ABOUT THE ARTIST

From an early age I enjoyed drawing animals, particularly wolves, and I quickly developed a passion for creating hypothetical creatures and original monsters.  My artwork was and still is highly influenced by the lonesome landscapes of North Dakota.

I graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor's in Visual Arts. While in school I furthered my skills in pencil and charcoal illustration and explored other disciplines such as oil painting, sculpture, and metalworking. Shortly after completing my schooling at UND, I received my associate’s degree in commercial art from Art Instruction Schools of Minnesota.

Later I moved to Tacoma, WA. The color and light I witnessed in Washington State has had a profound impact on my style, as I discovered while I worked to finish previously abandoned pieces.  The heavy use of darks and wiry, exaggerated figures remained, but blazing lights and watery blues and greens emerged from the inky backdrops.
