ABOUT THE ARTIST

Andrea Lowen Trenbeath, artist I attended the University of North Dakota where I completed a BA in Visual Arts in December 2000. During that time I explored a variety of artistic styles and a number of different mediums such as bronze, ceramics, and oil paints, and also developed an interest in jewelry making and metalsmithing. I had also been awarded a two year scholarship in commercial art from Art Instruction Schools of Minnesota, and in 2001 my painting Farm Fresh was featured in the school's annual publication of Illustrator Magazine.

Since then I've worked as a goldsmith, illustrated several books, and worked on commission as a free-lance jeweler and artist. I work with a wide variety of traditional mediums, and I also use Photoshop CS in graphic design as well as for concept art. My current series of paintings are a combination of fantasy, surrealism, and expressionism with special emphasis on the human form. Tenebrous and foreboding in nature, the subject matter at the same time exhibits blazing light and energy, my attempt to represent the polar opposites that seem to prevail both internally and externally.

I currently work out of Tacoma, WA as a freelance artist and jeweler.
